Season 2 of the Certified Insanity Racing League

We are renaming the league, and removing the Formula D reference from the name. We will begin using the Championship Formula Racing (CFR) game for our races from here forward.

With the start of Season 2, there are a new set of league rules, as follows:

CI CFR Racing League Rules – Season 2

List of Circuits

CFR Circuit 1 - Monte Carlo (Monaco)
CFR Circuit 2 – Monza (Italy)
CFR Circuit 3 – Silverstone (England)
CFR Circuit 4 – Nurburgring (Germany)

WHAT IS THE LEAGUE STRUCTURE?

This is the second season for the CI League. Competition runs high and the roar of the engines is mild compared to the roar of the crowd when someone's car blows up.

The CI Formula D League is being renamed the Certified Insanity Racing League.  We will be using CFR, rather than Formula D to play our second season.  Season 2 play consists of one preliminary/learning race, and a season of four races.  Six players called race managers each choose a fictitious driver that is their racer for the season.  At the end of the season, the driver with the most points is the top driver.  Driver and team are synonymous for these rules – and some rules refer to both.  The reason for this is that in future seasons, we may consider combining drivers into teams if there is enough demand.

Tracks For This Season
Preliminary Race – Monte Carlo (Monaco) (1 Laps)
Race 1 – Monte Carlo (Monaco) (1 Lap)
Race 2 – Monza (Italy) (1 Lap)
Race 3 - Silverstone (England) (1 Lap)
Race 4 – Nurburgring (Germany) (1 Lap)

How Team Colors are Chosen
For Season 1, managers each roll 2 six-sided dice, with managers picking color/team number in descending roll order.  For subsequent seasons, the team with the lowest points based on the players from previous season get first choice, 2nd lowest has next choice, and so on. In case of a tie, determine randomly.

League Points System
1st Place – 6 Points
2nd Place – 4 Points
3rd Place – 3 Points
4th Place – 2 points
5th Place – 1 Point
6th Place (or DNF/DQ) – 0 Points

Points are earned for the driver, and for the team.  There will be standings for both drivers and racing teams.  Tie breaker for points are 1) most 1st place finishes, followed by most 2nd place finishes, etc.

Cars must finish the race to earn points. If a Race Manager cannot make race day, a substitute player can play in place of the absent person. Note that drivers are tied to players. A substitute player means that a substitute driver is used.  Substitute drivers still earn points for the team they are racing for.

If both players miss the race and there are no substitutes available, the cars will sit in their starting positions on the track and will stay there until:

(A) A driver shows up that can race for the team.
(B) The cars are lapped, at which point they are removed. Note. When being lapped, the dead cars do not block or interfere with the track as it is assumed they would have been removed earlier.

At some point during the season, we may be able to use the automated driver rules, and use those to replace the rules for absent managers.

What are the League Rules In Play
The rules published with CFR are the official rules used by the league.  Here is a link to the rules:  CFR rules.
